Storylines champions reading for pleasure and access to high-quality literature for children and young people across Aotearoa New Zealand. We support the writers and illustrators who create these stories, while inspiring tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau to discover the joy and lifelong benefits of reading Aotearoa New Zealand books.

Te Awhi Rito New Zealand Reading Ambassador advocates for and champions the importance of reading in the lives of young New Zealanders, their whānau, and communities. As a national reading role model, they will build visibility and awareness of reading across all sectors in Aotearoa New Zealand, helping to create a nation of readers.

Te Rau Herenga o Aotearoa LIANZA is Aotearoa’s library and information association, strengthening our sector to be innovative and responsive to future information needs.

The School Library Association of NZ Aotearoa provides community, guidance and professional development on library practice and programmes for school library staff in Aotearoa New Zealand.

NZLA association encourages membership of teachers, parents, and literacy educators and supports them in the understanding, development and improvement of literacy, from preschool through to adults.

We teach literacy, numeracy, language, and digital skills to adults through small group classes, one-to-one support and workplace and community programmes, working in 30+ locations with partners in government, industry and community.

The philosophy behind the programme is simple – to break the cycle of ‘booklessness’.
Kids who can’t read become adults who can’t communicate and that’s a serious disadvantage in a world that operates on the written word.

Storytime Foundation provides free books, education, and resources to New Zealand’s most vulnerable families in partnership with Well Child Tamariki Ora/Pēpi Ora and Family Start providers, Ministry of Education, and Department of Corrections.

The Reading Revolution coordinates and trains volunteers and librarians running shared reading groups.

The Fledge Trust was established in May 2019 and was inspired by Kate De Goldi and Susan Paris of children’s publisher Annual Ink. Together, they seek out, mentor, and publish new and established New Zealand writers and illustrators for middle readers (8–13 years).

Public Libraries of New Zealand is the professional association for public library managers.
Our role is to foster a strong and influential network of public library managers. We do this by offering our members support services, resources and shared learning opportunities.

The New Zealand Society of Authors Te Puni Kaituhi o Aotearoa (PEN NZ Inc) was established in 1934 as the New Zealand PEN Centre and supports the interests of writers in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The Ockham New Zealand Book Awards are the country’s premier literary honours for books written by New Zealanders.

New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults recognise and celebrate the best books for young readers published annually in Aotearoa.

Held each August since 1997, National Poetry Day is a beloved and vibrant literary celebration, bringing communities together through more than 100 events across the motu each year.

We work to help bookselling businesses grow and succeed through advocacy, information, business products and services. We convene the bookseller community together for education, professional development and industry wide marketing activities like Aotearoa NZ Bookshop Day.

PANZ actively represents publishers’ interests to industry and government. The PANZ advocacy team works to inform the relevant government departments and industry bodies of key issues facing book publishers and how we can work effectively together.
